A loan helped to purchase more raw and dry food.

Grace's story

Grace is 36 years old and lives in the town of Kayunga in the Mukono region of Uganda. She is married and has 5 children with 4 of them currently in school. For the past 7 years, Grace has been working hard to manage her restaurant business, which sells cooked food.

To help expand her business, Grace has requested a loan of 500,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more raw and dry food to cook for resale and will help Grace to generate greater profits and improve on her standard of living by providing enough food for her family. Grace hopes that in the future she will be able to buy land and build a house of her own.

Grace is a member of BRAC's Microfinance program (MF). The program primarily serves small group members like Grace who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.

This loan is special because:

It provides financial services in some of the poorest parts of Uganda.
