A loan helped me to pay rent and buy needed inventory. We moved to a new location.

Tami's story

In 2005 a friend showed me how to bead a necklace, and something awakened in me. I began designing necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and rings. My friends asked me if they could buy my jewelry; I said I don't sell them, but they urged me that I should. I named it after my sister Cheryl Renee who passed away at 21. She never had a chance to experience life and have nice things, which is how Cheryl Renee's Things was born. Fast forward to 2019. Being offered an opportunity to open a boutique, I went for it.

I started selling handcrafted jewelry, and everything was going great. I had pop-up shops each month, and they were okay, but the following year in 2020, COVID came, and I had to close the business for four months due to COVID. I received a grant for $2500 from Facebook, so when I opened it back up, I added clothing, shoes, and other items. Not long after receiving the gift, I was informed that the building I was in was sold to a new owner.

I found a new location in a better area because I was in an impoverished area with crime everywhere, so moving was refreshing. I have depleted almost all my savings because the move was like starting over new. I know this business can bring much-needed services. A senior citizen bought an outfit to go out, and she stated I am so glad you are close because I did not want to drive out to find a dress.
