A loan helped a black woman-owned small business expand and make sustainable, beautiful clothing.

Ijeoma's story

During my childhood, I grew up with low self-esteem. While navigating the feelings of believing I wasn’t good enough at anything, I’ve always had this burning sense that there was more to my life than I thought. In an attempt to uplift myself and my life, I found that beautiful clothes became my new superpower. It made me feel “powerful and seen”. Every time I wore a beautiful dress with the perfect fit, I was reminded that I was more than enough! As I grew up and met different kinds of people, I realized that there were more people dealing with low self-esteem than the world cares to admit. That’s when my dream to make very beautiful, but sustainable clothing was born. I came to realize that If embracing fashion and style was one of the key factors that really helped me discover my self-worth, embrace my uniqueness with confidence, and take charge of my life and destiny; then I’m sure there are many other individuals out there who can benefit from expression through clothing as well!

My goal of spreading confidence and promoting high self-esteem is the sole reason I want to expand my business and reach more people through retail. Fast forwarding to the present day, I now have 6 years of experience with the development and production of couture clothing garments and want to use my skills to reach my goals and create bigger ones. My dream is to be an inspiration and to help as many people as possible who walk in the shadows of low self-worth, to shift towards feeling extraordinary and more than enough in every realm of their lives!
