A loan helped a member to stock up on bags in bulk.

Umoja Yetu Group's story

Ms. Antoinette is a client of the microfinance institution Hekima and presides over the village group “UMOJA YETU”. She is married, 33 years old, and the mother of seven children, all in school. Her partner is a taxi driver.

She is a vendor of different bags. She began this enterprise in 2008 with startup funds from her husband. Later on, she got involved in the Hekima program for supporting her enterprise and has since been progressing in it.

With this new loan, she is going to stock up on bags in bulk. And this will bolster her initial capital. The challenge in her business has to do with missing customers.

She would like to develop her enterprise and for her children to continue in their studies. So, she wishes to thank Hekima and its partners for supporting owners of businesses unconvertible into cash during this global crisis tied to Covid-19. The photo shows only the group leader because of Covid-19, so as to respect social distancing measures.

In this group: Kasongo, Antoinette, Lydie, Lidia, Basimine, Irenge, Sylvie, Ndamuso, Solange, Maheshe, Claudine, Alice
