A loan helped upgrade our salon equipment and grow our business.

Erica's story

In high school, I was a hair stylist assistant with my mother at Blessed Hands Studio. I grew up in Philadelphia and became enthralled with hair, skin, and nails while spending several years in Cosmetology/beauty school. I loved learning from my mother about different textures, colors, and hair loss.

My older sister developed ALOPECIA after suffering from a medical illness. Later I was immediately inspired to further my education in hair products. Growing up in Philadelphia I earned two degrees; My first in “Cosmetology” and my second in “Cosmetology Teacher license” where I educated over 15 students on the importance of skin diseases, hair loss, hair cutting, and styling.

After several years of salon experience and researching the beauty industry as a career, I started my own small business Independently. I started from scratch with no equipment in 2018. I’ve grown my salon, carefully saving and re-investing my earnings, learning from another stylist I went to school with, reading business articles, and learning from my own experience.

I’m very proud of my journey. I volunteer and perform public speaking to motivate or inspire women to overcome life obstacles as well for Mother’s Day I donate my services to a mother in need to help each one of them feel confident about themselves. I am beyond blessed to have a gift that makes women feel beautiful inside and out.
