A loan helped a member to buy a pig.

Noong Het 50 Group's story

Huong is leader of Noong Het 50 group who stands on the right in the picture. She is 41 years old and has two children. The eldest son is following his dream to serve in the army, whilst the youngest one is in the middle school. Her family lives happily in a small stilts house in the northwest mountains of Vietnam, where agriculture is the main source of people’s income.

Every day, Huong and her husband work very hard at the family farm with planting rice, raising pigs activities and also work as hired labourers for people in the village to get extra income. Unfortunately, a few months ago her pigs got a disease and all died. That had a big effect on her family’s income.

And now, in order to pay living costs and tuition fees for her children, she wants to expand business in poultry farming but lacks of capital. Because she is a reputable person and has a good repayment history, she successfully borrowed a loan from the Anh Chi Em Program. Huong plans to use this loan to buy pigs, chicks and ducks to raise and sell later. She believes with her experience in livestock, that will bring success for this investment.

Huong shared that because of difficult circumstances in the past, she had to drop out of school at grade 5. She hopes her children will go to school fully and have bright futures. Thank you so much for the tremendous support, Kiva lenders.
