A loan helped a Hispanic mother expand her children's clothing company.

Sandra's story

I'm Sandra, the owner of SAV Apparel, in the beautiful small town of Springdale, Arkansas. I've been thinking about starting my own business since I was a senior in high school and after working at a large chain children’s store for three years I decided I'd like to own my own children's clothing and toy store and design apparel myself. I worked as a sales associate and ran shipment, as well as did a little bit of merchandising. During that time I was also pursuing my undergraduate degree in business administration with a focus on small businesses, and since graduating in 2018 I have worked in customer service as a front-of-house hospitality professional, and am now a teller at a regional bank. I am also a mother of one child, a sweet boy that is a year and a half old, and I absolutely love to shop and create for him. Having him has furthered my desire to start my own business. Growing my own business will allow me to make my own schedule and spend more time with him over the coming years. It makes me excited to think about having a small business where I can bring my son with me, having him learn all about the business and get to know our customers over the years.
