Francisco's story

Francisco D. of Rad Comics is a comic book writer and artist. As an Environmental Studies graduate student at the University of A&M Corpus Christi, environmental issues influence his two comic series: “Flatlands” and “Freaks of Nature”. With this loan, Francisco will buy a tablet, a device that allows artists to draw directly on the computer. This tablet will allow him to easily erase mistakes and edit his drawings, thus making the whole process much more efficient. Francisco has a busy schedule with being a grad student, working in the Coastal Studies department and producing comics, so Francisco appreciates anything that makes his life a little more efficient!

Francisco will also use his loan to utilize a print-by-demand online publisher from which he will sell issues of Flatlands and Freaks of Nature. Flatlands is a science fiction, futuristic comic book where the world is increasingly becoming hotter, humans are the minority, and other species have evolved with the increased heat. Freaks of Nature is a product of Francisco’s younger years and is described by his friends as “ahead of its time”. Eventually, Francisco hopes to develop a core following of his comic books, sell them in book and comic stores, and possibly even make movies based on them.
