A loan helped a refugee-owned business buy equipment, hire help and expand marketing to grow operations.

Mike's story

I'm a refugee from Iran. I used to be a chemical engineer in my country. When I was forced to leave my country, I lost my house, car, and job. Here in the US, I got laid off from my company during the Covid-19 crisis. I used to work with Kelly Services as a quality engineer. I was not able to get another job. Because my wife is disabled and unable to work, I bought a small box truck.

I work as an owner-operator, but unfortunately, because my company is new, I couldn't buy the required equipment for the truck. I also couldn't hire someone to work with me. Right now, my earnings are almost equal to my expenses. I have not been able to grow my company.

When I'm alone in the truck, I can think about my future clearly and figure out ways to help people. I want to grow my business, so I can help other refugees too, so they can work with me and later on they start their own business. In the future, I plan to get my CDL so I can change my small truck to a bigger truck. This loan will help me make money to support my family. Thank you for your consideration.

This loan is special because:

It will help this entrepreneur upgrade equipment and expand their business.
