Ayesha's story

Born and raised in Los, Angeles, California, I am a graduate of San Francisco State University and currently operate Aint Phillis Sweets in Atlanta, GA. I learned the art of baking from my maternal grandmother Phillis L. Collier (also known as Aint Phillis), a Mississippi native, wife, and mother of 12 children.

My grandmother instilled in me the importance of creating delicious desserts by using simple and fresh ingredients that are readily available. She would always say, “Use what you have.” Inheriting my grandmother’s love for baking, I follow her basic tenets of baking and focus on providing my customers with desserts that are simple, delicious, fresh, and made with love.

My grandma taught me to share the love with others through kindness and food. She was always feeding her family and the neighborhood. She was a philanthropist without seeking or expecting recognition. I was inspired by her and I am continuing what she has started.
