A loan helped hispanic- and female-owned interpreter service provide language access to the Latinx community.

Camila's story

Laura and I, Camila, met as Spanish interpreters working for Strong Memorial Hospital and we immediately became friends. It was clear from the beginning that we shared a passion for language access in our community, and for providing that access with the highest quality, not only in language skills but in cultural competence. Our experiences and conversations with members of the Latinx community made us very aware of the immense need that exists for qualified and truly skilled interpreters in a variety of fields like medicine, education, and most particularly, the legal system. We created Ospina & Molina Language Resources to help alleviate this need and provide the best possible interpreting and translation services, with compassion and professionalism.

I come from Colombia and work with people from many other Hispanic countries. This has exposed me to many different dialects, cultures, and traditions, which makes me more sensitive to each of these communities' concerns, wants, and needs.

I believe that every human being, regardless of background or language, should have the same access to our country's resources. My hope is that Ospina & Molina will help bridge the gap that undoubtedly exists for minority populations and allow more Hispanics to feel that they are able to participate in the processes that affect their lives and that their voices are being heard.
