A loan helped a women/minority-owned business hire new staff and rent a space to grow our business.

Givona's story

A year ago, I had no idea that I'd have my speech therapy practice. I was a new mom looking to find a job that allowed me to have time to be with my baby while working from home. I found a management position at a good company but the long hours kept me away from my baby. That was the catalyst to starting my own company, Melospeech Inc. We primarily provide speech therapy services to children birth to 3 with special needs in our community. Services are provided in their homes or virtually.

We grew so fast that I soon had to bring on more staff to help me provide services. I now have 8 part-time and/or full-time staff working with me. We are again at the point where we are turning children away because the schedules of our current staff are full.

I would like to use these funds to hire and train new staff as well as to rent an office space for us to begin seeing children in our own clinic space. Due to the way we are reimbursed, we will have the necessary funds available within 3-4 months but are turning away families now.

This loan is special because:

It supports this passionate entrepreneur to expand their business.
