A loan helped to purchase a customized farrier trailer to transport horseshoeing equipment from farm to farm.

Mike's story

A true animal lover, Mike began working with animals at a young age. After earning a degree in Animal Care in England, he joined the Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus as head elephant trainer. Many cities and towns later, Mike moved to California and switched to horses.

Today Mike drives from farm to farm as a farrier, a blacksmith who specializes in horse care. His business is about three years old and very busy. Horses need new shoes every 5-8 weeks, and with a limited number of farriers in the area, Mike is constantly responding to calls.

After his bank told him that his loan request was too small, Mike was referred to Opportunity Fund. "The loan process at Opportunity Fund was way easier than I thought it would be." Mike will use a $10,000 loan to purchase a customized farrier trailer to transport his equipment from farm to farm. "This way, if my truck breaks down, I won't miss a day of work."
