Later, for 11 years, I worked as a missionary in countries such as Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, and Colombia. That's when I first experienced the extreme reality of poverty in Latin America.
Fleeing poverty, many people migrate to the United States in search of a better future. They risk everything for a dream: having their own business to provide a decent future for their families both in the United States and in their countries of origin.
They strongly want to succeed, but unfortunately many fail because they don't have the right tools or knowledge to have a successful business. They need someone to take them by the hand and show them the way.
My business is a consulting and marketing agency which I called "Street Lamp Marketing" inspired by the old street lamps of colonial Puerto Rico.

Back in 2000, I co-founded a local newspaper in Camuy, Puerto Rico. In 2006 I started working voluntarily as a missionary for several non profit organizations in sales, marketing and finance departments until 2017. That's when I formally started doing Social Media Marketing as a Freelancer.
In 2019, in the state of Florida, I formed an LLC starting my consulting and digital marketing agency.
We provide consulting and digital marketing services to small businesses in the hispanic market. We also offer one-on-one coaching sessions in person or through video calls.
What is the purpose of this loan?
During the most difficult times of the 2020 lockdowns, I was inspired to produce motivational content and self-imrovement videos to help hispanic people transform and improve their personal lives, to facilitate achieving their goals and fulfilling their dreams.
I started from zero and now I have hundreds of followers and thousands of reactions and video views. Although I'm still not reaching as many people as I wish, the feedback and the impact so far has been greater than expected.
I would love to have more time and resources available to devote to this new aspect of my business. My goal is to reach many more people, to share more and better self-improvement and motivational content, to provide effective tools and real action plans that hispanics are lacking in these difficult times.

What does "Partner covers currency loss" mean & how could it affect my Kiva loans?
When lending internationally, the local currency in a borrower's country may lose some of its value compared to the US dollar -- requiring the partner to use more of its local currency to repay Kiva in USD. We offer some Lending Partners the option to protect themselves against currency fluctuations by choosing to pass on these losses to Kiva lenders. By bearing this risk, lenders protect the partner and its borrowers from catastrophic currency devaluations and contribute to the sustainability of their operations.
Potential for currency exchange loss is noted on every loan profile under the loan details:
"Yes" means the Lending Partner will cover any currency loss. Lenders will not bear losses due to currency fluctuation
"Partial" means that the Lending Partner has opted to cover losses only up to 10%. If the U.S. dollar appreciates more than 10% against the local currency, those losses will be passed onto lenders.
"No" means that the Lending Partner is not covering any currency losses and all losses will be passed onto lenders.
"N/A" means the Lending Partner disburses loans to borrowers in USD so their loans are not subject to any currency fluctuation.
