Sajen, a food, and beverage industry are one of KIVA's early borrowers. We began with $3000 and then $10,000 to set up our whole business: making and selling 2 brands, JAMU and SAMBAL_SAMBAL. The business has evolved: wanting to feed friends and family to known and award-winning brands. We have won a few awards: two GOOD FOOD Awards, the British Airways Travel Award, and the NFL2015 local vendor award. In 2018, Washington Post recommended my product (sambal) as a Christmas gift. We supply snacks for Pinterest. And we look forward to supplying our snack item to KIVA, and Google
Sajen has been a wholesale operation, making them in various commercial kitchens. COVID-19 gave us the opportunity to test the local market through food delivery. We are encouraged and www. sambal-sambal.com was born.

Sajen has two brand: jamu & sambal-sambal. For the past twelve years, we have been working to promote our brands, traditional food, and beverages of Indonesia. We apply for a $15,000 loan to build our cafe retail in San Francisco.
Since then we, have received two good food awards for our sambal, the British Airways Travel Award for our Jammu, and local supplier of snacks for NFL 2015 in Santa Clara. Above all, Sajen was featured in Indonesian mass media, Voice of America, and Indonesian Table. I am happy that my business has encouraged the indigenous population of Indonesia and Malaysia to make and sell their own food products. With this loan, Sajen will continue its goal to inform others of the greatest of Indonesian food culture.

We offer some Lending Partners the option to protect themselves against currency fluctuations by choosing to pass on these losses to Kiva lenders. By bearing this risk, lenders protect the partner and its borrowers from catastrophic currency devaluations and contribute to the sustainability of their operations.
Potential for currency exchange loss is noted on every loan profile under the loan details:
"Yes" means the Lending Partner will cover any currency loss. Lenders will not bear losses due to currency fluctuation
"Partial" means that the Lending Partner has opted to cover losses only up to 10%. If the U.S. dollar appreciates more than 10% against the local currency, those losses will be passed onto lenders.
