A loan helped a member to buy beans, corn, meat and soda.

Hijas Del Rey Group's story

The Hijas del Rey Group consists of eight excellent members from the rural area of Jinotepe, Nicaragua. Their main businesses are grocery stores, clothing sales, cosmetic sales and food sales.

Geydi Lucia (wearing a grey blouse and red skirt) is 28 years old and has two children, ages 13 and one. She is married and has been in business for three years. With a small loan and little by little she has been growing her business. Her challenge is competition from other businesses.

She will use the loan to buy beans, corn, oil, rice, chicken, meat and soda. She uses her profit to cover household expenses. The loan has helped her improve her home by buying furnishings.

Her dream is to have a much larger grocery store. The loans are an alternative way to get ahead. She started out with a 7,000 NIO and now a 40,000 NIO loan. She has had different roles in the group and she is grateful for the empowering opportunity.

She is counting on you to help her continue to prosper.
