A loan helped a member to buy beauty products.

Lanaya Group's story

The five members of the Lanaya group are all married, average 35 years of age and have on average three children each. Most of them live in monogamous families in Sanoubougou 1, one of the districts of the town of Sikasso (Mali's third administrative region).

They are on their second loan from the microfinance institution, Soro Yiriwaso, with the goal of satisfying customer demand. The previous loan has been repaid in full. This group of women buy and sell beauty products (this is the case for Aicha C.), soap, shoes and peanuts.

With her loan Aicha C. is planning on buying two cartons of beauty products. She gets her supplies at the large market and sells them walking around the town. She also sells her products with her family to a customer base made up of men and women, for cash.

She is expecting to make an average monthly profit of 50,000FCFA, of which part will be used for daily expenses.

In this group: Aicha, Chata, Sogona, Fatoumata, Nana Kadia
