A loan helped further the advancement of minority-owned business through media, marketing, and public relations.

Jamila's story

I grew up with parents who both emphasized being proud of who I am in terms of being an African American woman and my ethnicity. My sister and I both have African names – my name is Jamila (Swahili) and my sister's name is Kenya. They were always encouraging and positive and told us we could do anything we put our minds to. I started my business wanting other business owners who were like myself to encourage others to know they are gifted and talented and could be successful as well. In my business I created platforms to highlight those who were using their gifts and talents in business for positive contributions in their community. I also wanted to help business owners to grow using social media and the media. The goal was to change the narrative in our communities and increase our economic footing which ultimately will help stabilize and support our circle of influence.
