A loan helped an immigrant-owned electronics repair business buy a van to make into a mobile workstation.

Alan's story

Hello, my name is Alan, and I immigrated from Iran to the US in 2017. I am a mechanical engineer by training. In 2019, I lost my job in the oil and gas industry. I always wanted to live my American Dream and try to find a way to put all negativity in a positive manner so I started my cell phone repair business, AAA Mobile Services LLC, in April 2019. The best part about cell phone repair is the human interaction that I have with my clients. I like understanding them and knowing each customer's story. Also working with small equipment to run a machine always reminds me of my mechanical engineering background and requires the logical procedure that I use as an engineer.

My business was impacted quite hard by COVID. Due to the mobile nature of my work, I need to go to customers' locations including their homes and offices to fix their phones. COVID made this difficult. Because my business was so young and income was still low, SBA loans did not support me. But I have not given up. I am still working hard to make my business succeed.

This loan is special because:

It supports an immigrant entrepreneur in expanding their business.
