A loan helped an immigrant family owned biz update their packaging line for expansion.

Mehdi's story

We believe in serving fresh, healthy, flavorsome food. Our products are produced in small batches using high-quality, organic ingredients. We use traditional Persian recipes and handcraft each of our products with love, from our family to yours.

'Oyna' means 'to dance' in the Azeri language, spoken in Iran's Azerbaijan province, where both my wife (Aisan) and my parents are from. We emigrated from Iran to the US in 2013 so my wife could pursue her passion for dance. With a shared love of cuisine from all cultures, we decided to start a food business, bringing traditional Persian recipes to America.

Kuku Sabzi is a staple meal in Iran and was a regular dish on the family tables of my wife and me, growing up. We were excited to introduce our version of this versatile, delicious food to the US. We took the idea to La Cocina and successfully graduated from the incubator program in 2016.

I and Aisan have been honing our recipes and developing new ones ever since. Oyna natural foods and its signature dish celebrates the heritage and passions and brings a delicious and healthy taste of Persian culture to foodies in the Bay Area and beyond. We are updating the packaging line with new machinery that requires funding.
