A loan helped me upgrade my equipment and buy the supplies I need in order to produce my items more efficiently.

Jennifer's story

I am 45 years old and I have been working alongside my husband for the past 10 years trimming and removing trees here in Arizona. I challenged myself every day and I never gave up. When COVID hit, our business suffered a lot. We struggled to get work because people just weren’t spending money on things that they did not have to have. We have always generated our work by walking the neighborhoods and passing out cards and word of mouth. But COVID shut that all down and we were not able to knock on doors to get work. We started advertising on social media platforms but, we still struggled to find work. So after struggling to make ends meet and nothing getting better, we decided to close our business and get back in the workplace. My husband now works for a local tree company and I am finally able to follow a dream I have had for the last 15 years. I love to make vibrant and colorful things to make people smile as well as to paint the world with lots of colors. In such a dark world, I feel like we need to spread joy rather than hate and I feel like this sets me aside from my competitors. I hold nothing back and I like to take risks with creating pieces that express myself in my products and I feel like that rubs off on people in a positive way. I want to create shirts that mean something to the person wearing them. I want them to carry a message rather than just be a piece of clothing for someone. I want to be the one who went for it regardless of opinions from anyone who says I can’t. I know I can.
