A loan helped to purchase enough machines, detergents for the laundry.

Hawah's story

Hawah is 45 years old and lives in the town of Kawempe in the Kawempe region of Uganda. She is married and has five children, with four of them currently in school. For the past 10 years, she has been working hard to manage her laundry business, which does dry cleaning/paper bags.

To help expand her business, Hawah has requested a loan of 1500,000 UGX from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase enough machines, detergents for the laundry and will help Hawah to generate greater profits and repay the loan on time. She will manage to provide enough essential needs for her children.

Hawah hopes that in the future she will be able to buy a plot of land and build rentals.

Hawah is a member of BRAC's microfinance program. The program primarily serves small group members like Hawah who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
