A loan helped to purchase more sacks of sugar, salt and maize flour for sale.

Resty's story

Resty is 35 years old and lives in the town of Kawempe in the Kawempe region of Uganda. She is married and has four children, who are all currently in school.

For the past 11 years, Resty has been working hard to manage her retail shop, where she sells essential items such as sugar, salt, cooking oil, and drinking water.

To help expand her business, Resty has requested a loan of 3,000,000 Ugandan shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more sacks of sugar, salt and maize flour for sale. This will help Resty to generate greater profits and manage to provide enough food for her family.

Resty hopes that in the future, she will be able to complete her rental houses.

Resty is a member of BRAC's Microfinance program (MF). The program primarily serves small group members like Resty who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
