Victor O. O. is twenty-four years old and married with no children yet. His wife stays at home to perform household chores as Victor goes out to earn a living. His business is located in a busy town center called Kakamega. He sells mangoes to the local people. He has been doing this for three years now and says that his business is profitable. He describes himself as very hardworking and visionary.
The major challenge Victor faces is that there are other people in the area doing the same kind of business, so it is difficult to maintain customer loyalty. The customers’ purchasing power is also low. In addition, they don’t purchase mangoes a lot since nutrition is not something people in rural areas are really knowledgeable about. However, he works very hard from early morning to late evening to keep his business doing well.
Victor is using his loan of 20,000 KES to buy more mangoes to meet customers' demands and with the hope of being able to supply fruit and vegetable vendors with mangoes in bulk in the future. He also hopes to buy land and build a house for his family.
