A loan helped a member to buy a cow.

Thanh Yen 53 Group's story

Mr. Lun, who is 37 years and belongs to the Thai ethnic minority group, stands on the right in the photo and is the Leader of Thanh Yen 53 Group. He is now living with his whole family in a stilt house in Dien Bien province, in the remote northwestern border region of Vietnam. There are 5 other people in his household: his mother, wife, and two kids. One child is in 9th grade, and the other is in 6th grade. The main job of the couple is farming, specifically growing rice, corn, garlic, and cassava. In addition, the whole family used to raise cows for production. To increase production to earn more income, they also raise poultry such as chickens and ducks. Despite working hard all year round, the family's standard of living is not very good. For a long time, he cherished the intention of buying another cow, first for plowing and then for breeding.

Lun decided to take a loan from ACE program to buy new cow and get trained about livestock techniques. The profit from this investment will be used to invest in his next business activity; he will also use a small portion as savings for the future.
