A loan helped to buy more ingredients that will be used to prepare cooked food to sell.

Jacqueline's story

Jacqueline is 30 years old, from Liberia. She is living together with her partner and with 3 children whose ages are 4 and 9 years. All of her children are schooling and live at home.

Jacqueline attended school up to 4th grade. She is a hardworking business woman who sells cooked food. She learned how to sell from her sister. She has been operating her sales for 5 years and has no problem with her business. She sells Monday through Saturday and uses a bike to transport supplies to her business site.

To maintain her business, she applied for a loan through BRAC Liberia, a Kiva Field Partner. This financing will be used to buy more ingredients that will be used to prepare cooked food to sell in order to repay her loan installment and increase her income.

Her dream for the future is to build a restaurant. Jacqueline is highly grateful for the financial support BRAC and Kiva have rendered.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
