I have been a fan of the trucking industry for as long as I can remember. Ever since I was young I always attended truck shows and rode along with my father who was a long-haul trucker for 32 years. Since then, I wanted to know everything there was to know about getting into the field and becoming a successful truck driver just like my father.
I can recall always visiting this one truck stop that had everything a trucker would want or need! I felt like a big kid when I entered the truck stop, leaving out with bags of goodies. When people would pull up beside my pops at the local truck stops, I would always get out and count the tires of the tractor and the cab. It was sort of fascinating to me. It was something about those 18 wheelers that I couldn’t pass upon.
Growing up around the industry, I learned the ins and out of what is required to run a successful trucking company. It felt like luck when I just so happened to come across this one trucker who gave me a tour of his company. That same trucker also gave me my first shot at being a trucker when I turned of age. I always knew that someday I would be a trucker, I just didn’t know I would’ve had as much hands-on experience that I acquired over the years; It made everything come so easily. Working there, from then until now, brought a lot of good memories and experiences that I plan to share with others and help them grow from my success story.

Growing up, I was always around a lot of truckers because of my dad, so he pretty much taught me everything I needed to know about the road and how to operate under the proper rules and regulations. When I was 25 I got my first truck and have been driving ever since. It’s been a great experience! I am currently running one truck in a dedicated lane and I’m hoping to expand my fleet with this business funding. We currently haul products for different customers along the coast and Bay Areas–all while delivering freights on time and in a safe manner.
Having something to show for it would really mean the world to me. The long hours and sleepless nights on the road remind me of the hard work I put in just to be successful, live a different life, and help my future employees do the same. What does "Partner covers currency loss" mean & how could it affect my Kiva loans?
When lending internationally, the local currency in a borrower's country may lose some of its value compared to the US dollar -- requiring the partner to use more of its local currency to repay Kiva in USD. We offer some Lending Partners the option to protect themselves against currency fluctuations by choosing to pass on these losses to Kiva lenders. By bearing this risk, lenders protect the partner and its borrowers from catastrophic currency devaluations and contribute to the sustainability of their operations.
Potential for currency exchange loss is noted on every loan profile under the loan details:
"Yes" means the Lending Partner will cover any currency loss. Lenders will not bear losses due to currency fluctuation
