A loan helped a small family-owned business get ready for their new location.

Brayden's story

We started our business because we lost our jobs during the pandemic, and opened a micro-market in Houston where we had our specialty cold brews and other local artisans' items available for sale. We knew that the pandemic was hard on everyone and creating a space for local artisans to set up a display of their products allowed people in our community not only to earn an income but also expand their customer base and grow their business.

During this time my husband Josh applied and got accepted into OU Law. Josh is Native and Latino and his goal is to help the people of his tribe gain federal recognition. We moved to Oklahoma in March of 2021 and immediately fell in love with the state and the people here. We wanted to bring our concept here but on a larger scale. We created a space in the Paseo Arts district for new and local artists to be discovered by allowing them to use our space as their gallery for their work. As well as the retail items we have in store are from other small businesses, or curated locally so we keep them here in OKC.

My motivation is my family and community. I am a third-generation Irish American and I am the only one in my family to graduate from school and go on to own a business, I am fulfilling the American dream that my great-grandparents paved the way for. My community motivates me because they are an extension of my family. I make it a point to get to know all who come into the store and create a safe, fun, and welcoming environment.
