Forozan's story

My name is Frozen, and I moved to the U.S. as a refugee. I'm originally from Northern Iran, where I had multiple businesses. My career roles included a beautician, tailor, and art instructor for drawing and painting. After being forced to leave the country with my family, we resided in Turkey for two years. In 2008, we came to the U.S. with no money or English-speaking abilities. Since we migrated during the recession, we struggled financially. However, we still found employment- I worked at a hotel, while my husband worked at a factory. I then began working in the beauty sector through an eyebrow threading business before working as a tailor. After living in Georgia for four years, my family and I, which includes my husband and two children, moved to Maine in 2012 for better job opportunities.
