A loan helped to buy farm inputs, which this single woman will use to improve her production and make more income to support her family.

Faith's story

Faith is a 20-year-old single woman who lives in Engineer. This area enjoys a temperate climate that favors crop farming. Faith is a mixed farmer who has farmed for many years, enabling her to support her family. Through farming, she has made her life meaningful.

Faith is seeking this loan to buy farm inputs, which she will use to improve her production and make more income to support her family. The major impediment to the development of smallhold farms in Kenya is the lack of short-term credit facilities. Juhudi Kilimo, in partnership with Kiva, is working hard to support smallholder farmers in Kenya through financing, thereby guaranteeing their survival.

Faith is hopeful that Kiva lenders will respond positively to her loan request. A loan to her will be vital to achieve food security in her home during this period of global economic recession.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
