A loan helped us build our inventory, add new special needs vendors, and develop marketing.

Marla's story

I have been involved in the special needs community ever since my son, Seth, was born 31 years ago with Down Syndrome. When he was born I had no idea what Down Syndrome was. It was a scary and painful time of learning with very little support for the future. As he grew up I realized that we needed support and a community to do life with.
I want to leave a legacy of love. To bring people together to make the world a better place. To encourage everyone to look beyond our differences and love each other even when we disagree. I want people to feel special when they walk into my store, into our lives. And to remind people that everyone has a PURPOSE. When a person walks into my store and hears our story of love and hope, sees the gifted talented products, and it touches them in a way that other things just can’t, that’s when I light up and know I’m bringing something good to the world. I also LOVE having my son, Seth, work in the store with me. Everyone loves to meet a local artist. We have so many other plans and dreams for Joy House.
