Mola R. is in his early forties and is married with six children. He owns and runs a quarrying business, selling his output at his shop which he has operated for eight years. The business is open between 6 a.m. and 12 noon and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., and makes an acceptable monthly profit.
This will be Mola’s 2nd Motisha loan from Tujijenge Tanzania (a Motisha loan is a loan product offered by Tujijenge that allows borrowers with good credit ratings to pay back their original loans faster and receive extra money before their original loan term has ended). He used his previous loan, a loan which he has successfully repaid, to increase his stock of dynamite, which he uses to separate the big rocks. He wishes to use this loan to support his wife’s food shop. His dream is to help the poor.
Mola will share this loan with his loan group, Pwani, which totals eleven members. The members of the group will hold each other accountable for the repayment of their loans.
In the photo, Mola can be seen in the middle of the back row.
