Nina Hive started in June 2020 inside an old RV. I purchased a few packs of last season's wholesale clothing and 2 old metal racks from a thrift store closing sale and started out on my mission to provide affordable clothing for women of all ages and sizes. Confidence is what we look to inspire in women.
The name "Nina Hive" has two origins. "Nina" was the name of my great-grandmother and the most incredible woman I have ever known. She was the daughter of the first Punjabi-American pioneers and fought against sexism in her family and community her entire life. She was a true feminist and incredibly ahead of her time. Nina Hive is a tribute to her spirit and legacy and I hope her story continues to inspire generations of women in the years to come.
"Hive" is the idea of many coming together for the greater good. Aside from styling the women in our community at a low cost, we also provide a platform for other women to flourish. We host dozens of community fundraisers and family-friendly events every year. We organize markets and have helped dozens of women turn their passions into their full-time jobs. We make things like educational workshops, networking opportunities, and free small business resources accessible to everyone.
Since 2020, Nina Hive has grown from that little RV into a Northern California gem, serving thousands of women in the greater 530 area. Every single aspect of this business has grown from those 2 little racks we started with. Recently, we acquired an amazing location in the heart of downtown and look forward to the girl power we will continue to spread.

The remodel on our new location on a busy corner in the heart of Downtown Yuba City is set to be complete in mid-February 2022 and we are looking forward to how many people we will be able to reach now that we are in a visible spot.

What does "Partner covers currency loss" mean & how could it affect my Kiva loans?
When lending internationally, the local currency in a borrower's country may lose some of its value compared to the US dollar -- requiring the partner to use more of its local currency to repay Kiva in USD. We offer some Lending Partners the option to protect themselves against currency fluctuations by choosing to pass on these losses to Kiva lenders. By bearing this risk, lenders protect the partner and its borrowers from catastrophic currency devaluations and contribute to the sustainability of their operations.
Potential for currency exchange loss is noted on every loan profile under the loan details:
"Yes" means the Lending Partner will cover any currency loss. Lenders will not bear losses due to currency fluctuation
"Partial" means that the Lending Partner has opted to cover losses only up to 10%. If the U.S. dollar appreciates more than 10% against the local currency, those losses will be passed onto lenders.
"No" means that the Lending Partner is not covering any currency losses and all losses will be passed onto lenders.
