A loan helped expand my business and move towards opening up my own storefront!

Alishia's story

Hi, my name is Alishia and I’m a 30-year-old full-time federal government worker from Baltimore, MD. Since I was young, I have always loved the jewelry and fashion industry. I made it my mission to always make a statement in anything I wear as your clothes can offer a unique story about you without ever having to say a word. I am inspired by fashion and want to be able to share that with my community, so they can also feel good and look good every day.

Growing up in the low-income area of Baltimore taught me a lot. To see people struggle in such a poor community motivates me to push harder and try to help those in need. I literally dream of being able to help my family, friends, and even strangers in their time of need and fashion is my way of doing just that. My hope is to purchase a storefront for my business where we can host special events for the community which will be more than just your ordinary jewelry and fashion store. We want to make sure we give back by mentoring younger women and teaching others my skills of making jewelry so they can support themselves. That is what I am doing and I can and will be the first person in my family to own a successful business that will inspire others to do the same.

This loan is special because:

It supports a Black female entrepreneur in expanding their business.
