A loan helped to purchase more lapa [a traditional West African cloth] for resale.

Jarkar's story

Meet 49-year-old Jarkar from Liberia. She is married with six children. She never had the opportunity to attend school.

Jarkar runs a business where she resells lapa, a traditional West African cloth. She has been in this business for ten years now. She works eight hours a day, six days a week. She hasn't faced any problems with her business.

Jarkar requested this loan from BRAC Liberia, a Kiva field partner, to purchase more lapa for resale. She says that the income generated by this loan will help improve her family's standard of living.

In the future, she would like to expand her business and continue sending her children to school. Jarkar expresses her gratitude to BRAC and the Kiva community for their support.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
