Shondel's story

My name is Shondel, and I am a client of the Florida Women's Business Center in Delray Beach, which helped me develop my business roadmap. I believe my passion for taking a space that is a total disaster and turning it into something livable came from my grandmother. My family is from Guyana. When I was 4 years old my grandmother moved my mom and her 5 kids to the United States of America. We stayed in a two-bedroom, 1 bath apartment along with my Aunt and her 4 kids. Every Sunday we all did a deep clean and organization to keep the space livable.

In 2004, I received my medical assistant certification but later realized this was not for me. I became a real estate agent in 2006. When the market crashed in 2008 I needed a plan, so I was hired by a friend who cleaned foreclosure homes.

That was the beginning of my property preservation journey. I was saddened by the number of items people left behind. Cleaning property is hard work, but it is also very therapeutic. Motivation to keep going comes from knowing this clean-out is for a family to start a new life and create new memories.

In 2015, I created my own cleaning company, CleanDisUp Property Preservation Services located in Conyers, GA. 2 years later I moved to Florida and connected with Florida’s Women Business Center. With their guidance, I was able to get CleanDisUp up and running.

Even though the pandemic temporarily closed most of our clients’ businesses it was by the grace of GOD that people were still purchasing a property. Receiving a loan will help us keep our clients happy and our business thriving.
