A loan helped a Black, Woman-Owned, OH-BIZ, assist minority, women and disadvantage Businesses with contract OPPORTUNITIES.

Ronda's story

I publish OhioMBE, Ohio’s largest Black-owned business newspaper. I was born and raised in Columbus, OH. As a kid, I started my first newspaper, BOLT. I distributed it throughout my neighborhood and to my family. I have always been interested in providing news and information. I like asking questions. I am inspired by people and platforms that empower and educate people.

I have worked for several local newspapers as a reporter. I have covered the Ohio State Buckeyes football and basketball programs as well as covering a neighborhood beat for the daily newspaper.

I started OhioMBE to provide business news and bid notices to small, women and minority-owned businesses. My goal was to help fulfill the need of providing contracting opportunities from majority companies and governmental organizations to certified minority, female, and disadvantaged businesses. OhioMBE provides contracting opportunities to our readers. We also feature businesses and provide educational material to assist small businesses to grow their companies.

I am very proud of our contributions to developing and growing small businesses, particularly disadvantaged businesses in the Buckeye state. We have helped foster an environment for microenterprises to compete for contracts.

This loan is special because:

It helps a woman-owned business overcome the challenges posed by the COVID-19 crisis.
