I’m Vonetta, founder of Vonetta Cosmetics and ethnic skincare & acne expert. I am based in Atlanta Georgia serving clients worldwide. As a student of color at U.C. Berkeley, I developed and suffered from acne, and had no real options (other than the dermatologist and drugs). I understand how uncomfortable it can be to put your “best face forward” when you’re dealing with various skin conditions. My goal when starting this business in 1995 was to help people of color feel better about themselves while providing safe products and services. Vonetta Cosmetics is a multi-ethnic skin care service and product line dedicated to acne treatment, dark spots, acne scars, skin brightening, acne clearing products, and professional treatments for all skin tones and types. I opened my first clinic in Walnut Creek California in 1995, three years later my family and I moved to Georgia where I currently serve my clients in West Midtown Atlanta.
My clear skin strategies include an in-depth consultation and products that work. With this, I increase my client's self-esteem and dramatically boost their self-confidence and give them the tools and solutions to maintain healthy, blemish-free, even-toned skin, and a positive self-image for a lifetime. My flagship product, the Truth Bar, has been very essential for helping my clients attain their skincare goals. The Truth Bar has a glycerine base which provides moisture while cleansing. It also contains sulfur and essential oils for exfoliation. It is unique in that it does an amazing job of exfoliating, oil control, and killing bacteria per skin type. For example, a person with oily/acne-prone skin needs more exfoliation, oil, and bacteria control than someone with normal skin that is nonproblematic. What is the purpose of this loan?
I am applying for this loan so that I can better educate people of color about their skin and provide them with safe and effective skincare solutions.
I will purchase soap cutting and label application machines which will improve the look of my product packaging (making it more consistent) and save valuable costs and time.
I will hire an SEO and marketing expert to increase my conversions and brand awareness, and a virtual assistant to handle admin tasks.
I will purchase containers in bulk so that my line can stay consistent. Since the pandemic started it's been much harder to find the right containers and sometimes I’ve had to ship products in containers that don’t match.
I will be taking more classes to better understand and improve my business.

What does "Partner covers currency loss" mean & how could it affect my Kiva loans?
When lending internationally, the local currency in a borrower's country may lose some of its value compared to the US dollar -- requiring the partner to use more of its local currency to repay Kiva in USD. We offer some Lending Partners the option to protect themselves against currency fluctuations by choosing to pass on these losses to Kiva lenders. By bearing this risk, lenders protect the partner and its borrowers from catastrophic currency devaluations and contribute to the sustainability of their operations.
Potential for currency exchange loss is noted on every loan profile under the loan details:
"Yes" means the Lending Partner will cover any currency loss. Lenders will not bear losses due to currency fluctuation
"Partial" means that the Lending Partner has opted to cover losses only up to 10%. If the U.S. dollar appreciates more than 10% against the local currency, those losses will be passed onto lenders.
