A loan helped a POC family business to invest and expand our inventory.

Ximena's story

I have an artisanal gift shop with my husband Carlos, we both are first-generation immigrants, I was born and raised in Mexico City in Coyoacan, a bohemian town in the middle of the huge metropolis, a charming neighborhood with the soul of a village: colorful facades, gardens with gazebos, markets, midday mass, fountains, artisan bazaars, colonial mansions, and many museums. And Carlos was raised in Guadalajara, Jalisco another beautiful place in Mexico.

When I came to the US to continue my studies I met Carlos and then we got married, on our first visit to Mexico together we realized that it was a privilege to be able to go see our families and enjoy the culture and that many people living here don't have the same opportunity, this is how we decided to bring artisanal items to sell in Oregon and at the same time, the idea of helping people in Mexico selling their art was something that motivated us.
