Magdalena's story

Before my family and I started our dream of opening our own restaurant, we came to the United States eager to work and I learned all aspects of the restaurant business through a series of opportunities. The first 6 months at my job laid the foundation for the backend operations. From there, I was asked to become a chef for a local casino. Next, I was asked to be an assistant manager for another restaurant and remained in that position until they sold. I then returned to my original restaurant job, where within 6 months I was promoted to manager. After multiple years as manager, I decided to dedicate time to my family and save up with my husband to open what would eventually become Josepeños Mexican Restaurant.

Now we are 6 years into operating Josepeños and we are once again ready for our next Kiva loan. Previously, we successfully raised and repaid our loan! Given the updates and adjustments to Covid, we are seeking to continue better serving our loyal clientele by having the proper equipment in place!
