A loan helped a member to gain access to cost efficient hybrid seeds and fertilizer for maize cultivation.

Hellen's Group's story

This season is not the first one that Hellen is working alongside One Acre Fund. She has been a member since 2016 and, although she is the only person featured in the above picture, she is actually representing her group of 16 farmers in Matete District, Kenya.

Hellen is often described by her community as a very hardworking individual and decided to be the one to represent her group because she wanted to help more farmers. Like many of her fellow farmers, Hellen decided she wanted to be part of the One Acre Fund community in order to get the best quality fertilizer and hybrid seeds and hopes to use the profits from this year’s harvest to repair her home.

This loan will not only help Hellen but the whole group, who will receive maize seeds and fertilizer to plant a total of 6.5 acres of land.

In this group: Hellen, Beatrice, Beatrice, Reuben C, Mwama, Jerald, Mary, Sarah, Grace, Mary, Peter, Melody, Shepah, Pelita N, Jenta, Joseph

This loan is special because:
