A loan helped to buy farming inputs, which she will use to improve her potato crop production and make more income to support her family.

Josphine's story

Josphine is a 49-year-old mother. She lives in Kapsowar, a town that was significantly stuck by the 2007–2008 crisis when violence occurred in Kenya.

Josphine is a mixed dairy and crop farmer, who has been farming for the past many years. Through farming, she has made her life meaningful.

Juhudi Kilimo’s partnership with Kiva is an effective tool for reducing poverty in Kenya, especially among women, since it is one of the central actors in the rural areas.

Josphine is seeking this loan to buy farming inputs, which she will use to improve her potatoes crop production and make more income to support her family. Supporting Josphine with a loan will be key in facing the financial crisis that resulted from the COVID-19 pandemic.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
