A loan helped a Minority Woman Veteran-owned business to overcome challenges posed by the COVID-19 crisis.

Haley's story

My professional career began at the age of 17 when I decided to enter the Army National Guard. The following year, I also started with P. Mitchell to pursue Cosmetology while maintaining my status in the National Guard. The Army helped develop many valuable habits that would benefit me throughout my career and I was able to attend leadership courses while I served as a 13R(Radar) Sgt.

In 2018 after an injury, my career with the Army seemed to be nearing an end. I was approached by the artist who had tattooed my eyebrows with an opportunity to be trained by her. She noted I had an artistic eye and would be great at permanent cosmetics. I thought it would be good to pick up a new skill and I had past experience in the beauty industry because of Cosmetology school. I agreed to begin training with her and quickly became enthralled by the industry.

My leadership development through my time with the Army allowed me the confidence to begin my own business. I quickly began diving into the industry and obtaining training from leading artists across the world. I now currently hold over 50 certifications and continue to train with professionals in the industry to bring my community the best options available.

The decision to begin Naked Face Cosmetic Spa LLC has allowed me to identify my passion and drive for helping to empower other women to feel comfortable in their Naked Face! This passion could not have come at a better time as I was medically discharged from the Army in 2019 and have since dedicated my time to my passion for helping others.
