01_Gpf And Liggey Darou Diogo Group's story

This group was set up in January 2011 and is made up of courageous women who live in the same neighborhood. They have progressed together and have a good relationship with one another. Their main activity is buying and selling goods. They repaid their first loan successfully.

Mary is the group's representative; she is 44 years old and is on the right of the photo with her hand raised. She is married and mother to three children, one of whom is a six-year-old girl; they all attend school.

Mary is very dynamic and manages a network of women. She sells fresh fish and vegetables and gets her supplies from the markets in the area to resell in the districts of a neighboring town. At the same time she has a restauration activity, which she carries out in the village market. She is successful and has more than ten years' experience in this field.

With this loan she is going to buy three crates of fresh fish, vegetables (a sack each of various products: cabbages, carrots, aubergines, turnips...) and a basket of dried fish. She renews her business every three days. Her business is going well as she has a loyal customer base. Her profits enable her to improve her children's well-being and to provide for her own needs. She has already refurbished her house and bought a plot of land for habitation purposes.

In this group: Sokhna, Mary, Penda, Mbène, Maty, Sokhna, Arame, Katy, Aminata
