A loan helped a member to purchase hybrid seeds and fertiliser for the cultivation of maize.

Gladys' Group's story

Gladys is 49 years old and, as the group leader, she is representing 16 farmers in Kakamega B (North) District. She is looking forward to be working with One Acre Fund for the first time this year, as this means she will get the best quality fertiliser and hybrid seeds.

Gladys has been a farmer for more than 20 years and is often described as a very hardworking individual. She decided to represent her group because she wanted to spread the story of One Acre Fund farmers. With the profits she earns from this coming season, Gladys would like to send her children to school.

Between the 16 farmers in Gladys’s Group, a total of 7.5 acres will be planted using the inputs from this loan.

In this group: Gladys, Dais, Nyikuli, Lydia, Rosa, Gladys, Aggrey, Hudson, Desterio, Moses, Wilkister, Rosemary, Musanga, Consolata, Mary, Bonface

This loan is special because:

It supports smallholder farmers to purchase seeds and solar lanterns.
