I launched Soeur in 2020 to provide high quality affordable fashion. In the wake of the pandemic it was my desire to offer a hassle free online shopping experience that would encourage everyone to stay home. As of now, we operate 100% remotely as our entire shop is online. Only recently have I decided to pursue a physical store front in my local community in order to offer our current customers another option as well as expand. This store front would create jobs in the community as well as train and develop aspiring leaders into management roles.
What is the purpose of this loan?
I am applying for this loan in order to put it toward the costs of launching a physical location. I have managed to save up personal and business funds in order to handle majority of the cost and am seeking the remaining funds needed. This loan is $7,500 will be used to hire a store associate and would cover up to 270 hours. It would also cover up to $2,400 in inventory and $2,400 in marketing. Marketing the open job as well as new location is very important to it’s success. A physical store front is what will take my business to the next level. We have seen much success in online e-commerce and would love to create jobs as well as an in- person experience for our customers. With hard work and consistency I want to take Soeur to the highest level to which I will be in the position to offer grants to upcoming businesses and start ups.

When lending internationally, the local currency in a borrower's country may lose some of its value compared to the US dollar -- requiring the partner to use more of its local currency to repay Kiva in USD. We offer some Lending Partners the option to protect themselves against currency fluctuations by choosing to pass on these losses to Kiva lenders. By bearing this risk, lenders protect the partner and its borrowers from catastrophic currency devaluations and contribute to the sustainability of their operations.
Potential for currency exchange loss is noted on every loan profile under the loan details:
"Yes" means the Lending Partner will cover any currency loss. Lenders will not bear losses due to currency fluctuation
"Partial" means that the Lending Partner has opted to cover losses only up to 10%. If the U.S. dollar appreciates more than 10% against the local currency, those losses will be passed onto lenders.
"No" means that the Lending Partner is not covering any currency losses and all losses will be passed onto lenders.
