A loan helped to buy pigs, potatoes, whey, balanced feed, vitamins, and parasiticides.

Karina Elizabeth's story

Karina lives with her mother in a small house in an area known as La Unión Montufareña. Karina is in a common-law relationship, and she has three small children. Her earnings come from her work as a day worker and from raising animals. In the future she aspires to be able to have capital for cultivating.

She wishes to get this new loan in order to continue bolstering her business of raising pigs. This business activity contributes half of the earnings with which she pays for some of the necessities of her humble household.

With the kind help from the members of Kiva, Katrina will be able to buy pigs, potatoes, whey, balanced feed, vitamins, and parasiticides. This way she will mange to raise healthy pigs to sell.

Her goal as a mother is to be able to give her children an education so that they will have better opportunities and be able to get ahead.

Translated from Spanish by Kiva volunteer Ginny Kalish.
