A loan helped relocate to larger business space and expand services.

Tawana's story

I was born in Chicago, Illinois. My mom as a single parent moved her and me to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, at a young age. The move was a shock for me and I stayed in the house a lot. But there is where my love for make-up artistry began. Whenever my mom left home, I would sneak in her make-up bag and apply make-up applications to my face.

At the age of 12, I began practicing make-up application on any and everybody who would let me. By the age of 14, my first year in high school I had clients. I was being booked by my fellow classmates for high-school pictures, senior pictures, prom, and any other special occasion they participated in.

After high school, I did a 1 yr of college and got a 9 to 5 because in my family that was expected. But the love to make people look and feel beautiful has stayed in my heart so I did make-up on the side.

Last year, I became interested in permanent Make-up artistry. I took classes to learn Microshading, Microblading, and eyelash applications. I rented a salon space and opened Tawana's Beauty Zone. This has brought great joy to my heart. I am finally back doing what I love to do. I want everyone to know that it's never too late to follow your dreams. For whatever reasons you had to put them down you can pick them up again!!

I now have people asking me to teach them how to do what I do. In the near future, I will be teaching art. That's amazing and a blessing to me.
