A loan helped a member to buy hybrid seeds and fertilizer to improve her harvests of maize.

Josephine's Group's story

Josephine, pictured above, has been a farmer for more than twenty years and is now proud to represent her group of eight farmers in the Lugari District. She is 45 years old, married, and the mother of five children.

Josephine thinks of herself as very hardworking. She has worked alongside the One Acre Fund since 2016 and decided to represent her group because the team asked her to. She says that being part of the One Acre Fund community has allowed her to consistently feed her family. Josephine plans to use the profits from this coming season to send her children to school.

In total, Josephine’s Group will receive supplies to cultivate 6.625 acres of land. One member of the group will also use some of the funds to buy a solar lamp.
