A loan helped a single mother open a bookstore.

Brittney's story

I am a single mother raising three boys. I grew up in a small village in Sandyville, West Virginia, with a population of less than 2,000. I was a child with a vivid imagination. I spent most of my days reading books and writing stories.

At the age of 30, I now have three published books and three beautiful little boys. We moved from a small town in Ohio to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where we fell in love with the city. I am ready to put roots down and build a sense of community for my family to grow into.

It is my dream to have my own business to support my family now and one day passes it down to them. I want to go to work each day in an environment that I love, surrounded by the books that I loved so much as a child. I want to bring the joy of literature to the community and host writing workshops and poetry readings.

I am starting completely from scratch with only small savings, but with a passion for books and an intense love for my family that fuels me to make my dream come true.
